The first Purcell location was opened in 1936 by Robert M. Purcell, in Washington, Missouri. He established his second location in Granite City, Illinois, in 1951 and the third location in DeSoto, Missouri was opened in 1964 by his son, Robert G. Purcell. Under the direction of Robert G. and his wife Juanita, these three locations have expanded to more than 60 locations, 6 retread plants and a fleet of vehicles that provide pickup and delivery service to 41 states. Purcell is currently ranked as the third largest independent commercial tire dealership in North America, the nation’s largest retreader for off-the-road tires and one of the 10 largest independent tire store chains in the United States.
Early in 2008, Purcell Tire merged with Nevada based D&D Tire. Their comprehensive tire management program helped many mines to increase productivity, maximize life of tires, and dramatically improve an operations bottom line. Several of these customers reduced their tire budget by several million dollars per year, due to the efforts of D&D Tire’s tire management program. Several industry articles have been published on this tire management program as well as the success and value they have brought to customers.
Today, Purcell Tire continues to build on that mining history and the success of D&D Tire’s tire management program. We offer all of these services through our Global Mining Group.
We believe in bringing a holistic approach to tire service solutions. Tires represent one of the top 5 procurement expenses of a mining operation. Our Tire Management Group continues to assists mining operations world-wide. These services range from a complete turnkey solution, carte services, and tire management consultation.
